This was such a weird collection of weird fiction.
At first I was unsure, the second half of the collection saved it for me.
My favorites were
19 Snapshots of Dennisport: loved the narration style through the description of snapshots. Even though no pictures or illustrations were used, it was so descriptive that it really felt like I was looking at photos alongside the narrator.
Where We All Will Be: very atmospheric and ambiguous. Loved it.
Notes for "The Barn in the Wild": again, the narration style was unique. It was also really creepy.
A Haunted House: loved the game-like style and the options for how you proceed and how the story goes. I, of course, had to try all the options after I initially chose my preferred path, just to see the different ways the story could progress.
It Won't Go Away: so dark, creepy, and well-written.
Notes from the Dog Walkers: really cool story.
The Society of Monsterhood: loved the whole thing, but the ending got me.
Her Red Right Hand: an unexpected favorite. Never been a fan of superheroes but this was incredibly sweet and super heartbreaking.
Ducks: loved the apocalyptic atmosphere and the ambiguity caused by the narration from the pov of a child.
The Thirteenth Temple: love that the collection started and ended with Merry, but this was my favorite of the two. Besides the Merry and Marjorie story, this was a really good representation of the parasocial relationship between fans and their favorite artist/celebrity.
