The USS Rhea discovers mysterious quantum energies emanating from a cluster of carbon planets, where a landing party encounters unusual life-forms. Their mission takes a terrifying turn when a Borg-controlled Starfleet vessel attacks, assimilating the crew. Lieutenant T'Ryssa Chen is whisked away by the planet's inhabitants, who possess quantum slipstream technology, just as the Borg descend.
