Synopsis

An outcast her whole life, Corvina Clemm takes the unexpected admission letter from the remote University of Verenmore as a sign to start over. What she finds is not a campus but an ancient castle perched atop a fog-wrapped mountain — a place steeped in shadow, secrecy and death, where students have quietly vanished every five years for more than a century.

Drawn into the mystery, Corvina begins piecing together Verenmore's grim history, even as she falls under the watchful eye of Vad Deverell, a brooding professor with secrets of his own. Between them a dangerous, magnetic attraction grows, and the closer Corvina comes to the truth of the disappearances, the more the castle seems determined to keep her.

Billed as Beauty and the Beast by way of Dracula, RuNyx's Gothikana is an atmospheric, steamy dark academia romance — macabre, moody and unabashedly gothic.

Frequently asked questions

  • Is Gothikana appropriate for younger or sensitive readers?

No. Gothikana is written for adult readers: it's an explicit "open door" dark romance with on-page sexual content alongside violence, torture and other heavy themes, so it's best suited to readers 18 and up who are comfortable with dark romance content.

  • Is there another book in The Verenmore Volumes?

Yes. RuNyx followed Gothikana with Arkana, a companion novel set in the same Verenmore world roughly a century earlier (in the 1870s), following different lead characters. It's a prequel in the story's internal timeline rather than a direct sequel to Corvina and Vad's story.
