Goodbye, My Princess

Goodbye My Princess is the English translation of Fei Wo Si Cun's acclaimed novel Eastern Palace (Dong Gong), which inspired one of China's most popular television series. Set in a fictionalized version of imperial China, it follows Crown Prince Li Chengyin and Princess Qu Xiaofeng as their political marriage alliance spirals into something far more dangerous than either anticipated. Disguised initially as the tea merchant Gu Xiaowu to win her trust before their arranged union, Chengyin's deception sets off a chain of betrayal, sacrifice, and love that neither can escape. The story is told through shifting perspectives and a non-linear structure, building toward one of the most memorable tragic endings in modern Chinese fiction.
