Synopsis

As World War II looms, eight-year-old Willie Beech is evacuated from London to the English countryside, finding an unexpected home with the gruff but kind Mr. Tom. Scarred by past abuse, Willie slowly blossoms under Mr. Tom's gentle care, discovering a world of friendship and joy. However, their newfound peace is shattered when Willie is called back to London, prompting Mr. Tom to embark on a desperate search for the boy he now considers his own son.
