Synopsis

In 1920s Mexico, Casiopea Tun dreams of a life beyond her dusty small town. When she accidentally frees the Mayan god of death from a wooden box, she's thrust into a dangerous quest to help him reclaim his throne. Failure means her own demise, but success could grant her deepest desires as she journeys across the country and into the Mayan underworld.

Silvia Moreno-Garcia is a Mexican-Canadian novelist, editor, and publisher born 25 April 1981. She publishes Innsmouth Free Press, an imprint devoted to weird fiction, and has co-edited several genre anthologies. Her novels blend horror with historical settings, including Mexican Gothic and the Nebula-nominated Gods of Jade and Shadow; she won a World Fantasy Award in 2016 for the anthology She Walks in Shadows.
