Synopsis

Hakara's homeland has not yet been reached by the god Kluehnn's Restoration, and she means to keep it that way. Kluehnn rebuilds a ruined land only at a price: half its people die, and the other half are remade into something no longer human.

When the Restoration reaches her land anyway, it separates Hakara from her sister Rasha. Hakara crosses into a neighboring kingdom to find her, and discovers along the way that she can draw power from the same gemstones the god's magic runs on.

The book follows four rotating narrators. Alongside Hakara and Rasha, Mullayne is trying to save a dying friend, and Sheuan is working to restore her family's standing inside a court that rewards the kind of manipulation she is good at. Their paths converge around a rebellion forming against the God Pact itself.

It is epic fantasy built on a hard magic system and a fractured, barrier-divided world, and it reads dark: characters face real violence and loss rather than a softened version of the stakes. The politics matter as much as the magic. Gods Below opens The Hollow Covenant series.
