— my first rina kent book. Back when I was new to dark romance, I was envious of readers who could read about anything and everything, and I couldn’t, but I have healed, and have become a new person which has helped me step into my dark romance era. Rina kent’s books are quite popular, and I wanted to read in order, but I wanted to finish the series that i bought, so i read this one first, since the edits that flooded the internet are to blame.
Plot : ⭐⭐⭐
Story :⭐⭐⭐⭐
Spice :🌶️🌶️🌶️
Rating :⭐⭐⭐
Tropes : contemporary, spicy, dark romance, please read the trigger warnings on the author’s website.
Pacing : medium.
Characters : I felt like I would love landon from the beginning, especially that first meet with our girl — mia. And, landon did deliver. He’s infuriatingly cocky and annoying, but would I ever change anything, in fact, i felt like I was mia. And, I can’t hate the characters even if i wanted to. I liked mia and Landon, even though mia seemed to have quite contradictory feelings. But then, again if landon was real, i’d do the same. In fiction, these books feel safe to explore and read. I loved remi, and eli in this book, would love to read eli’s book. Also the Russian names were something I liked. Oh, and the way Landon remembers everything about mia, her favourite colour, her favorite food, he learnt sign language for her, he also does questionable things with her virginal blood, but we ain’t talking about that, the presenting of this sculptures in his exhibition, the possessiveness, and the protectiveness, yes. Please.
I’m giving three stars, because this was a moderate book for me, not too bad, nor too good.
What I loved : I loved the writing, miss rina’s writing is amazing, and extraordinary. I also loved landon’s dictionary of words which included —t•••, the blasphemy, little muse, my woman.
What I struggled with : nothing.
Loveable characters or not : yes.
Strong character development : yes. There’s character development for landon, he starts caring for the people he loves instead of hurting them because of his well…sociopath tendencies?
Plot driven / character driven : plot driven.
Favorite quotes/ highlights : one where he decides that he’ll take lessons from Brandon—his brother —on empathy so that he does not lose mia, when he takes beating from niko for mia, when he lets her go because mia asks that of him, but come back with a blast on her birthday, man is absolutely unhinged, but i love him, and so cocky, even narcissists are at shame. He cooks Italian food, or prepares it, well i forgot that small detail 😅 + his disdian for the world is just funny. And the descriptions of his art and his love for sculpting.
Any other details : i understand why the colour of the book is blue because that’s mia’s favourite colour, and the ribbons being the reference for the ones she ties in her hair. And the flowers being the reference for her love for plants, and naming them, which landon thinks is ridiculous but loves her for it.
