This book reminded me a lot of The Poet Empress, with its themes of power, politics, and young women trying to survive in a system designed to control them.
The story follows Lei, who is taken from her home and forced to become one of the king’s royal consorts. Through her journey, we see her slowly find her voice, challenge the rules imposed on her, and fight for her freedom.
I really enjoyed the blend of fantasy, court intrigue, rebellion, and romance. It was emotional, powerful, and sometimes difficult to read because of the topics it tackles, but it was also full of resilience and hope.
If you enjoyed The Poet Empress, there’s a good chance you’ll enjoy this one too 🫶📖.
