Synopsis

Gifted & Talented is a standalone novel by Olivie Blake (The Atlas Six) about the three Wren siblings — Meredith, Arthur, and Eilidh — heirs to Wrenfare Magitech, the company built by their father Thayer Wren, the so-called father of modern magical technology. Telepathically and electrokinetically gifted since childhood, the three have spent their lives publicly admired and privately unraveling. When their father dies suddenly, they are forced back together to contend for control of his empire while confronting long-buried rivalries and the crushing weight of unrealized potential.

Meredith, the accomplished eldest daughter running her own biotech company, has recently cured mental illness. Congressman Arthur Wren is fighting a hostile constituency and a strange magical misfire he can only call the yips. Eilidh, a former prima ballerina whose spinal injury ended her career, now finds herself capable of triggering accidental catastrophe. Reviewers have compared the book's satirical, fourth-wall-breaking narration to HBO's Succession rewritten with magic — a character-driven story where the fantastical elements flavor a very human study of privilege, family dysfunction, and inheritance.
