I decided to read Gideon Falls since I love Lemire's writing, and the comic has received a lot of praise. This first volume seems promising, there are a lot of tropes, though, and nothing particularly unsurprising happens, but it may get better as Lemire finishes setting up the stage.
The story centers on a battle between good and evil through a mysterious Black Barn that attracts the two main characters: a priest who has lost his belief and a seemingly mentally-ill man obsessed with garbage. The priest is joined by a sheriff and her conspiracy-theorist/doctor father and the unstable man by his therapist. Both parties try to unravel the mystery of the Black Barn through different approaches. It's too early to tell if it will be any good.
