Synopsis

In the city of Rosetta during the French occupation, Zubayda is told she is destined to be a queen. Driven by this prophecy, she marries the French governor Jacques-François Menou, turning her back on her cousin Mahmoud and her own country. Her choice leads to a life of regret as she realizes the cost of trading love and loyalty for a hollow title.
