Synopsis

A year after Earth's Garde repelled an alien invasion, the energy they released has begun awakening extraordinary abilities—called Legacies—in human teenagers around the world. Taylor Cook, a girl from a small town who thought the invasion was a distant nightmare, discovers she has developed powers of her own and is recruited to the newly formed Human Garde Academy, where teens are learning to control what they can do.

Not everyone welcomes this new generation. The Harvesters, a fringe group that views Legacy-bearers as abominations, and the Foundation, an organization capturing people with healing abilities for its own purposes, both pose threats the recruits are unprepared for. As pressure mounts from outside the Academy, Taylor and her fellow students find themselves needing to use their powers well before they feel ready.

The first book in the Lorien Legacies Reborn series, set after the original Lorien Legacies novels, following a new cast of characters.

About the author

P
Pittacus Lore

Pittacus Lore is the pseudonym under which the Lorien Legacies series (starting with I Am Number Four) is published. Within the books, Pittacus Lore is presented as a character, an elder of the alien world Lorien. The name was created through James Frey's book-packaging company Full Fathom Five; the series was written primarily by Jobie Hughes from ideas developed with Frey, with Greg Boose contributing to earlier volumes. Frey publicly acknowledged writing as Pittacus Lore in January 2015.

Frequently asked questions

  • Do I need to read the original Lorien Legacies (I Am Number Four) series first?

Generation One is the first book in Lorien Legacies Reborn, a spin-off set about a year after the events of the original Lorien Legacies series. It follows a new cast of human teenagers rather than the alien Garde protagonists of I Am Number Four, so it's readable as a starting point, though some background and world details carry over from the original six books.
