Synopsis

Garlic loves her quiet life in the valley of vegetable people, spending her days with Witch Agnes, Carrot, and their friendly neighbor, the Count. But when Agnes needs a rare ingredient from the distant Magic Market to brew a vegetarian blood substitute for the Count, Garlic must muster her courage for a big journey.

At the same time, Garlic is facing an unexpected change as she slowly begins to turn human, making her wonder if she is truly ready to leave her old self behind.

The second volume in Bree Paulsen's Garlic series continues the cozy, gently spooky tone of the first book while pushing its heroine toward a bigger question of identity and growing up.
