Synopsis

In the wake of Alexander the Great's death, his generals and the women of his court are drawn into a ruthless struggle for the throne. Eumenes, Alexander's loyal secretary, is assassinated by a conspiracy of men, and the women — Roxane, Kynna, and the courtesan Badia — plot their own desperate counter-move to protect the sickly, mentally-impaired heir Alexander IV. As the empire fractures and the Wars of the Diadochi begin, the cost of power is measured in betrayal, ambition, and the tragic fate of a dog sacrificed to settle a dispute that cannot be settled by words.
