Synopsis

Tana Roberts is the daughter of a rich man's servant and mistress, raised in the shadow of a household she does not belong to. At eighteen she breaks away, going as far from her mother as she can, and arrives at college just as the 1960s begin to break open.

Kennedy, Martin Luther King, civil rights, Vietnam: Tana comes of age in the middle of all of it, and the decade carries her from New York to the South during the worst of the racial unrest. Thoroughly modern, she wants a career badly enough to sacrifice almost everything else to get it, and the cost is not always one she chooses.

Spanning several decades and closing with the woman she becomes, Full Circle is a story about ambition, independence, and discovering — much later than she expected — that she might be able to have it all.
