Synopsis

Nearly a hundred years after Kenneth Grahame's The Wind in the Willows, William Horwood revisits the River Bank and its familiar cast in this affectionate, illustrated sequel. Spring arrives and with it a female character who turns Toad's peaceful world upside down: for the first time in his life, Toad falls in love, with all the vanity and disruption that entails.

Meanwhile Ratty and Mole set out on an adventure down the river, drawn back into the gentle rhythms of riverbank life that made the original a classic. Patrick Benson's illustrations bring the same warmth and whimsy to this continuation, part of Horwood's Tales of the Willows series that also includes Winter, Autumn, and Christmas in the Willows.
