From Paris to Provincetown
In the summer of 1915, West Virginia-born artist Blanche Lazzell moved to Provincetown, Massachusetts, joining a group of printmakers known as the Provincetown Printers. These artists developed a new method of printing from a single block, and Lazzell became an expert in this 'white-line' woodcut technique. Her studies in Paris infused her woodcuts with a modern flair, establishing her as one of the first American women artists to work in a modernist style alongside Georgia O'Keeffe. This book explores the story of Lazzell and the innovative artistic community she was a part of.
