A beautiful story, with a lot of feeling and meaning.
It is sad that the story that endures in the popular collective is the Hollywood version, which does not do justice to the book.
The movie makes it very clear who is the monster and who is the human, but is that really the case? No. The story lacks a monster.
The fears and rejection of the Father are logical and understandable, as is the desolation and desires of the Son. But at the end of the day, the Father and the Son are the same. So, if one is a monster, the other is also a monster. If one is not a monster, the other is not either. For both have the same desires, defects, virtues, fears, longings and regrets.
