what do i need to do to have a Max in my life, huh?
i know I've had mixed feelings about this book but in the end it turned to be better than what i first credited it for. i liked that it wasn't centred on a teenager relationship but on something deeper, something more interesting than young, blind love. i mean, love is an important theme, both the falling in and out of it, but it's not a motive, which is what made me like the book more.
i liked the plot twist at the end. the surprise was nice because i hadn't expected some things to unveil themselves the way they did. but i think that what i liked the most was the characters. they could've been deeper, yes, but they were perfect for the plot they were set in. i enjoyed the main relationship and i loved the side one. and Jessa's exploration of "the self" was something really worth reading and something that more books should talk about. discovering oneself while solving a mystery, and not doing it cheaply but deeply... quality reading.
so i give it 4 stars, because while i liked the book it didn't make me love it. it was good. it was nice. it ended better than it started.
