Sadie and Max met as students training to be concert pianists, fell in love over shared practice rooms and shared ambition, and are now engaged. Their careers have moved in step for years, so it feels like fate when both are named finalists in the prestigious Van Cage piano competition.

Only one of them can win. As the competition tightens, the couple's easy partnership curdles into rivalry, and each has to decide how much of a relationship they are willing to trade for the career they have spent their whole lives preparing for.
