Synopsis

Five of Yusan's most dangerous liars are summoned for one job: kill the immortal God King Joon, a tyrant who profits from the kingdom's suffering. None of the five chose their partners, and none trusts the others enough to say so.

Sora is a poison maiden, trained for a decade to kill, who wants only to walk free. Royo is the muscle for hire, chasing a debt he cannot repay any other way. Euyn, the king's own exiled brother, was sentenced to death and given one last use, with Mikail, the royal spymaster, at his side.

Two more join them. Aeri is a thief who wants to impress a father who barely looks at her. Tiyung is a nobleman drawn into protecting a woman he was never meant to love. Each carries a private version of the mission, and an alliance built on lies has no easy way to hold.

Five Broken Blades opens Mai Corland's Broken Blades series. It is an epic fantasy built from Korean folklore and history, told across six shifting points of view. The story moves between romance, mystery and open betrayal, and it promises none of its six a clean way out.
