Synopsis

In the summer of 1974, Kate Mularkey has resigned herself to life at the bottom of the eighth-grade pecking order, until the coolest girl in the world moves in across the street. Tully Hart is beautiful, brash, and hungry for a spotlight to outrun a painful home life, and against the odds she and quiet, steady Kate become inseparable, sealing a best-friends-forever pact on Firefly Lane.

Over the next three decades their bond carries them through college, careers, marriages, and motherhood. Tully chases fame as a television star while Kate builds a family, and the differences between them bring jealousy and hurt as often as comfort. Through every storm they remain each other's constant, until a single act of betrayal threatens everything they've built.

Kristin Hannah's much-loved novel is a portrait of female friendship across a lifetime, tender and clear-eyed about how the people who know us best can wound and save us in the same breath.
