Exodus: The Helium Sea
Exodus: The Helium Sea closes out Peter F. Hamilton's Archimedes Engine duology. The Crown Dominion has kept an uneasy peace for millennia, the Celestials firmly in charge and the human population treated as little more than serfs, but that balance breaks when a faction exiled across the Helium Sea seven thousand years ago returns to settle old scores.
Finn and his human allies are pulled toward the center of the conflict, some by choice and others by manipulation they don't fully see until too late. It gives them an unprecedented opening: if they can hold their alliance together, they might finally secure their people real independence within the Crown Dominion rather than continued subjugation.
The novel unfolds over roughly a decade, following separate missions and factions that Hamilton brings together for a single convergence, resolving the mysteries and costs set up across the duology.
This novel is the second half of a duology and serves as a direct continuation of the events in Exodus: The Archimedes Engine. It is highly recommended to read the first book beforehand, as the narrative picks up immediately and does not provide extensive recaps of the previous plot developments.
This novel functions as a prequel to the Exodus sci-fi action-adventure RPG developed by Archetype Entertainment. The author collaborated with the game developers to flesh out the universe, including its cultures, technologies, and starships.
