tl;dr - Classic fantasy at it's finest, we have dragons, dwarves, elves and many more dangerous monsters. There are war, politicking, back-stabbing, cults, but above all it's journey of 3 friends.
It's a must read for fans of classic fantasy!!
Review - We follow the journey of three friends from their days of being nobody to becoming some of the important characters of this world.
It's a dwarf-led world, where humans and elves are considered lesser in their society. The three friends, Eden, Anya, and Faras, Faras being the elf and the other two human, start out as Rescues. They are orphans and live at the mercy of the dwarves. And suddenly a dragon attacks their village, due to a chain of events, the three friends are forced to leave their village and journey to the capital city in search of a better life. And how this decision changes their lives is the main plot of the story.
I like the setting of the book; it involves all the tropes we are familiar with in classic fantasy but through a different lens. There is some betrayal and backstabbing which increased my intrigue level to a high. It's quite action-packed and fast-paced.
But the fast-paced nature of the book sometimes works against it. A few of the parts seem a bit rushed; some moments which were supposed to be impactful felt underdeveloped.
Besides that you are in for a wild ride in this book, I highly recommend give it a try.
I will surely be waiting for the upcoming books in this series.
