Synopsis

J. M. Coetzee's debut collection, Dusklands, presents two starkly different novellas. One follows a mythographer tasked with devising psychological warfare strategies for the Vietnam War. The other recounts a 1760 elephant hunt in South Africa from the perspective of a Boer settler. Both narratives explore the complex dynamics of colonization, history, and complicity.
