Synopsis

In this conclusion to the Six Crimson Cranes duology, Princess Shiori—who hides forbidden magic—is left a broken dragon's pearl by her late stepmother, Raikama, with a dying charge to return it to the dragon powerful enough to make it whole. To keep the promise, Shiori journeys to Ai'long, the hidden undersea kingdom of dragons, where the pearl's volatile power aids and betrays her by turns. Amid dragon politics, thieves who covet the pearl, and a court that would burn her for the magic in her blood, she fights to protect her family and the boy she loves, Takkan.
