Synopsis

Hanalei of Tamarind, exiled after her father steals a seadragon egg, finds solace in studying the majestic creatures of the Nominomi Sea. An encounter with a female dragon offers her a chance to return home and right a terrible wrong. Meanwhile, Prince Sam of Tamarind seeks a cure for his mother's illness, finding hope in Hanalei's return. As they both search for the mythical dragonfruit, they face enemies and the inherent dangers of the wish-granting egg itself.

Makiia Lucier grew up on the Pacific island of Guam and holds degrees in journalism and library science; she has since lived across Saipan, Oregon, Colorado, Italy, New Hampshire, Idaho, and North Carolina. A former librarian, she writes young adult fiction drawing on history and mythology, including the Isle of Blood and Stone duology, the historical novel A Death-Struck Year, and Year of the Reaper, a historical fantasy and mystery set in a fictionalized post-plague Spain.
