Laura Resnick
Doppelgangster [Dramatized Adaptation]
Doppelgangster [Dramatized Adaptation] is GraphicAudio's full-cast audio dramatization of Laura Resnick's Doppelgangster, the second book in the Esther Diamond series, performed by a full voice cast with sound design rather than read by a single narrator.
Esther Diamond, a struggling New York actress, is working as a singing waitress at a Manhattan mob restaurant between roles when she witnesses a gangland hit. The victim swears he saw his own doppio, a perfect double and a notorious portent of death, moments before he was shot. When more duplicate wiseguys start turning up around the city, Esther and her friend Max Zadok, a 350-year-old mage whose day job is protecting New York from Evil, have to work out what is happening before a gang war gets the wrong people killed.
The production carries the same wisecracking, noir-adjacent voice as the novels, with skeptical cop Connor Lopez along for the ride.
A 350-year-old mage whose day job is protecting New York City from Evil.
A skeptical NYPD detective drawn into Esther's cases.
