Dog Logic
The novel is an expansion of a play of the same name that the author previously wrote, which won a Kennedy Center Fund for New American Plays award. While the novel retains the core character of Hertell Daggett and the pet cemetery setting, it introduces an entirely new narrative arc involving an underground community that was not part of the original theatrical production.
The author narrates the audiobook himself and incorporates a specific instrumental cover of It's a Wonderful World played on a Theremin to open and close each chapter. This musical choice was intended to mirror the off-axis tone of the story.
This book is the first installment in a series known as The Dog Logic Triptych. It is followed by a sequel titled Water Memory.
