Synopsis

This novel tells the story of Oskar Matzerath, a boy who decides to stop growing at the age of three. Armed with a tin drum and a voice that can shatter glass, Oskar observes the tumultuous events of 20th-century Germany, particularly the rise of Nazism in his hometown of Danzig. It's a darkly humorous and often grotesque look at history through the eyes of an outsider.
