This book is born from a manuscript that has stayed with the author for over three years. The author selected and organized material from notebooks written by a Tunisian immigrant named Jilani Weld Hamad. This man came to Paris in the early 1980s, lived there for a few years, and was then imprisoned under unclear circumstances. He escaped two weeks before his sentence ended, leaving behind his notebooks and letters, which were found by the police.
