Synopsis

During a walk in the forest, an overwhelmed young mother of two encounters an old woman who tells her about the "Four Questions of Life" — deceptively simple prompts with the power to reorder what matters. Skeptical at first, she begins applying the first two questions to her own overcrowded, stressed daily routine and notices, almost immediately, how much lighter and clearer her life becomes.

The four questions — Will I really want that? How important is that really? Do I really need that? What would I change about my life if I died in a year? — form the spine of a short, illustrated book about finding an "inner compass" for personal priorities rather than following default obligations and expectations.

Author Tessa Randau, a stress and burnout consultant, drew on her professional experience for this debut, which spent over half a year on the SPIEGEL bestseller list. The German edition features gold foil embossing and four-color illustrations by Ruth Botzenhardt.
