Synopsis

Following her mother's death, Mary Jekyll is left penniless and searching for answers about her infamous father. Her investigation leads her to a secret society of alchemists and a group of other young women who are the monstrous daughters of literary figures like Dr. Moreau and Rappaccini. Together, they form the Athena Club to solve a series of gruesome murders plaguing the streets of Victorian London, forcing them to confront the dark legacies of their creators.

About the author

Theodora Goss is a Hungarian-American writer of fantasy fiction and poetry who draws heavily on folklore and fairy tales. Born in Budapest in 1968, she holds a J.D. from Harvard Law School and a Ph.D. in English from Boston University. Her Extraordinary Adventures of the Athena Club series began with The Strange Case of the Alchemist's Daughter, and her short fiction has been a finalist for the Hugo, Nebula, and World Fantasy Awards.
