Der Glanz des Südsterns

Der Glanz des Südsterns
Synopsis
Der Glanz des Südsterns spans decades and continents, beginning in England in 1918, where Italian nurse Elena and doctor Lyle Macallister feel an immediate connection.
When Lyle learns that a former girlfriend is pregnant with his child and feels bound to marry her, Elena is devastated — and soon discovers she too is pregnant. To spare her family shame, she marries Aldo, an Italian man, and emigrates with him to Australia. Years later, when Lyle takes up a post with the Flying Doctors in the Australian outback, fate brings the two of them back into each other's orbit.
Elizabeth Haran's novel is a sweeping historical saga of thwarted love, secrets, and the long reach of choices made under pressure.
