Synopsis

Demon with Benefits is the third novel in Aurora Ascher's Hell Bent series, published by Kensington on 29 July 2025 and an instant New York Times bestseller. It follows Meph — the jokester among the demon brothers, who wears his grin like armour and uses humour as a mask — and Iris Donovan, a blue-haired witch who is bitter, sharp-tongued and haunted by her past. Iris has no interest in welcoming demons into her life, even though they are her sister's friends, and least of all teasing, tattooed Meph with his red eyes and devilish smile. After a toxic relationship she has sworn off commitment entirely.

What neither of them can argue with is the chemistry, so they agree to a no-strings sexual arrangement and try to keep it there. Meph's composure has been slipping for a while, and something about Iris soothes the darkness building inside him. When a deadly enemy resurfaces, the pain both of them have been suppressing is dragged into the open, and the arrangement stops being simple. Before Meph is swallowed by that darkness, Iris has to face her own fears and decide whether she can love the most terrible part of him — or lose him.

Set in contemporary Montreal, the book is an enemies-to-lovers paranormal romance that runs hot and funny in equal measure, and it carries the series' running theme of loving even the darkest parts of ourselves. It is written to be readable as a standalone, and is pitched at readers of Hannah Nicole Maehrer, Brynne Weaver and Kimberly Lemming.
