Defy the Stars is an entertaining sci-fi YA. The story takes place in a futuristic world where Earth has colonized a few other habitable planets. One of these worlds, Genesis, fights Earth to be able to keep their independence. Basically, they don't want any immigrants, so their world doesn't go to s••• as Earth did. Their concerns are mainly ecological, but it works as a great exploration of immigration, xenophobia, and technophobia. This little book also poses some interesting questions regarding consciousness and humanity from the perspective of a very smart android. I'm planning on reading the second installment to see where it all ends.
