In Shacktown, a remote community on Tasmania's rugged Tasman Peninsula, the Dempsey family has controlled a drug ring for generations. Their illicit operations are suddenly threatened when thirteen-year-old Forest Dempsey, presumed dead for seven years, mysteriously reappears from the ocean, bruised and branded.

As his cousins Mackerel, recently out of jail, and Ahab, who has tried to escape the family's criminal legacy, investigate Forest's return, they are pulled back into the dangerous underworld. They must uncover the truth behind Forest's disappearance and its connection to a notorious drug kingpin, forcing the family to confront long-buried secrets and question their loyalties.
