Death in the Sunshine

Death in the Sunshine
Synopsis
Moira moved to The Homestead, a luxury retirement community in Florida, to leave detective work behind her. After a long career in the police, she wanted sunshine, swimming and no more bodies. Then she finds one: a young woman floating in one of the resort's pools, with thousands of dollar bills drifting on the water around her.
The local police handle it badly from the first hour, and Moira cannot let it go. Neither can her new neighbours — Philip, Lizzie and Rick, all ex-law-enforcement, all retired, all quietly bored. Between them they have decades of investigative experience and nothing to do with it, so they start working the case in parallel with the official one, chasing what the detectives are dropping.
Steph Broadribb opens the Retired Detectives Club with a sun-bleached, sharply funny murder mystery whose amateur sleuths are anything but amateurs — and whose gated paradise turns out to have let something in.
