Death in Her Hands

Vesta Gul, a seventy-two-year-old widow living alone with her dog in a cabin by the woods, finds a note on her morning walk: "Her name was Magda. Nobody will ever know who killed her. It wasn't me. Here is her dead body." But there is no body. With little else to fill her days, Vesta begins inventing Magda — a life, a killer, an entire mystery — and the deeper she burrows into the story, the harder it becomes to tell her sleuthing from her unraveling. A wry, eerie portrait of loneliness and a mind turning in on itself.
