Dorothy Gardiner was an American mystery writer and a key figure in the Mystery Writers of America. She wrote suspenseful novels including After the Fine Weather, Lion in Wait, and The Big H. Her stories often feature clever plots set against both international and western backgrounds.

Patrick Quentin was a pseudonym mainly of Hugh Callingham Wheeler, but also, in various combinations, of Richard Wilson Webb, Martha Mott Kelly (or Kelley) and Mary Louise White Aswell (more).
