Synopsis

Sixteen-year-old Candy Quackenbush is desperate to escape her mundane life in small-town Minnesota, marked by a drunkard father and schoolyard bullies. Her wish for something more is granted when she's pulled into the Abarat, a surreal archipelago of islands representing each hour of the day. Amidst making new friends in this strange world, Candy finds herself pursued by the sinister Christopher Carrion, Prince of Midnight, and must discover her true place.
