This was a fascinating and unsettling deep dive into how language is used to manipulate, control, and create devotion—whether in actual cults or just the everyday spaces we inhabit. There are so many nuggets to chew on, especially when you start noticing the ways these tactics show up in politics, wellness culture, and even social media. 

 

It’s also a timely read, given the state of, well… everything. If nothing else, it reinforces how much words matter, and how easily they can shape the way people think and behave. A friend of mine always says, “words create worlds,” and this book makes that clearer than ever. One of those books I think everyone should read, just to better understand the power of language.
