This book was amazing, while I didn't think the first book lived up to its hype - it's when you view the books together as a series that they do. You get to know the characters a lot more in this book and their interactions are more well constructed and demonstrate their sense of a team. From rescuing Inej to finally earning their share - this book keeps you on your toes and wanting more.
Kaz - just Kaz. He always had something going on, some form of plan which no one expected - not even his own team and even to us. Things weren't what they seemed while reading and would only be revealed later on in the book. It was a smart way of writing.
We also finally got some hints of a budding romance between Kaz and Inej - while the tension was clearly there in the first book, Inej had made it clear she wasn't sure about it. But in Crooked Kingdom at the end and throughout we see there is more willingness from both of them. Also can we just like swoon for a minute with Kaz finding her family, like commonnnnnn.....
There were losses.... and they flipping sucked ass. Nina deserved better in this series.....
Wylan and Jesper are just chefs kiss
Overall, I loved it - as a series and looking at the two books together and not separately, the six of crows duology is an amazing read and I highly recommend.
