Eleven-year-old Cricket, accustomed to a life of luxury, believes she has found a true friend in Dominic, a boy from the less affluent crackerbox houses. However, their budding friendship is tested when a dispute over a dog's ownership escalates, turning their classroom into a makeshift courtroom to settle the matter.
