Synopsis

Sidney Carver has one very big problem, and his name is Dwayne 'Gunner' Wicked: six-plus feet of muscular, motorcycle-riding, animal-loving trouble. He is her boss, her roommate, and her best friend, and the two work side by side at Wicked Animal Rescue, united by their passion for saving animals. He is also the man Sid has quietly fallen for, and an unrepentant player. Rather than confess how she feels, Sid concocts a scheme to win the heart of Gunner's cousin instead, and she talks Gunner into being her wingman. As their practice runs heat up and roommates become teammates, the line between pretend and real starts to blur. Set on the sandy shores of Cape Cod, where the Dark Knights stick together like family, this standalone blends scorching chemistry with laugh-out-loud humor. Gunner and Sid have already carried each other through injuries and losses, but plotting a path toward someone else forces them to confront what has been standing in front of them all along. Their friends-to-lovers story asks whether a best friendship can survive turning into something far more complicated, and far more crazy.
