Synopsis

In the summer of 1936, Jessilyn Lassiter and her best friend Gemma Teague face new challenges that threaten their lifelong bond. Gemma's crush on the wealthy Hadley family's son creates tension, as Jessilyn doubts the sincerity of his affections for a poor Black girl. When tragedy strikes with the death of a neighbor girl and an elderly friend is falsely accused, Jessilyn must make an impossible choice: protect her family's livelihood or seek justice amidst a threatening mob.
