I absolutely love this book.
One of my HUGE reasons for being such a CoHo fan is that her books are REAL. She takes things that very well could happen in real life and puts it to paper and I have such a strong appreciation for that.
I think there was mainly two things I didn’t enjoy about this book and the first one I’ve noticed is kinda across the board with all of her books.
The main character (female) is always kinda generic. Not super pretty by description, dull and lifeless, always has some tragic moments in her past. The second thing is that I was expecting more out of the Trey and his mom situation at the end. I honestly could have read about that for a chapter or two or three. Build it up THEN give me the hell yes moment I was hoping for. It was honestly just very anticlimactic and I couldn’t even be as happy for her as I wanted to be because it was kinda rushed, like it was thrown in there just to get it out of the way. Obviously I’m not an author (currently writing a book but still) so maybe she had her reasons for doing it this way, like the other significant events needed to take precedence over that.
Overall I truly enjoyed this book quite a bit. I don’t think there’s a single CoHo book I haven’t found that I don’t absolutely adore. I’m obsessed with romance books but she throws a sprinkling of tropes into every book and that keeps it interesting for me. I also love how straight forward and to the point any “spicy” parts are. Wham bam thank you ma’am now back to the story.
Colleen Hoover, can you do ANYTHING wrong?
