Close to the Bone

Close to the Bone
Synopsis
FBI special agent Cate Wilde is back on the remote Pacific Northwest island she grew up on when she gets the call: a teenager's skeletal remains have been found on a neighbouring island. She works the case with Tessa Black, a childhood friend who left Seattle PD to serve as the local deputy.
The bones raise a question neither woman wants to ask out loud. Their friend Samantha vanished from the island at fourteen and was never found, and the details of this death sit uncomfortably close to hers.
Close to the Bone opens the Widow's Island novella series, written in alternating instalments by Kendra Elliot and Melinda Leigh. It is short — a novella, not a full-length novel — and it sets up the island, the two leads, and the cold case that runs underneath the whole series.
