Despite being quite popular among alien romance books, I find it very light within its genre. The aliens appearance is still very human, just with certain markings or tattoos. It’s a good balance if you want something alien but not too strange. However, this aspect limits the originality of the world, as aside from modern technology, there aren’t many significant changes.
I think the most interesting part is how gender roles function, given that there are many more men than women. They have numerous rules to prevent extinction and ensure procreation. However, it wasn’t clear to me why women decided to change husbands after 3 months and not become attached to their current families. Initially, I thought it was to reduce the number of relatives (and therefore increase options for wives), but that’s not the case, as they still remain half-siblings.
The romance between the couple was sweet, and I liked the banter between the protagonists. The ending was interesting and ensures more stories.
I would like to continue reading the rest of the series. Unfortunately, after looking at all the covers, I don’t see any of the more intriguing features mentioned in this book, like horns and wings, so I think they will remain light. I was very interested in Rhaego, but none of the next titles mentions his name. I hope the author decides to write a book for him.
